This picture might not be correct. The statue should be located more to the right of the pole right. If you google image the actual painting, the statue is in a different spot.
It seems that Panini loved the Duke's gallery and he painted it several times.

Another version image is at the Louvre, and can be seen here., note the crowded floor and , note the perspective change.
The MFA in Boston has one very similar to the Met one, but with more stuff in the foreground.
I'd love to see all three (maybe more) side-by-side. Any editors out there want to do some research about the multiple versions?
